Questions and Answers This will get added to as people ask the questions and I think it will help explain things better

Am I understanding this??  You will start at 9:00 and each person gets 15 minutes to try to do all of these obstacles??  Or do you have 15 minutes per obstacle??

You get 15 minutes to complete as many obstacles as possible.  On Saturday or before start time you can practice as much as you want.  It is virtually impossible to do all the obstacles in 15 minutes.

I would LOVE to come to the Sept or Oct courses, however I am a nurse and I work every third weekend and of course it is on those weekends. My question is--Do you ever do a one on one course. My husband and I live 5 minutes away and would love to be able to try out your facility with our horses.

You can come and use the course but it is not fully set up as on the event weekends.  There is still plenty to challenge you and your horse.  $10 for 2 hours or $20 for the day

where do the horse stay? Stalls, pick lines, portable corrals

We have some picket lines, you could bring portable stalls but we have lots of pasture area with electric fence.

I want to make sure I have the fees correct .... If I bring 4 horses it's $40/horse even if 2 of the horses have more than one rider?

1)  Due to overwhelming interest we have limited the event to 60 horses and two horses per rider (you could call at the last minute to see if there is room to bring more horses and watch the availability page)
2)  1st horse is $40 the 2ud is $30
3)  if another rider was to ride your horse they would pay $40 for the 1st and $30 for the 2nd also

do you have horses we can use

No sorry we don't

Is there other places to ride our horses before or after or turn on the course? Trails, arena?

Yes there is a warm up area and also about 10 acres of trees and old quarry to ride around and through

What prizes if any will be awarded for the placings in each class? Also who are the judges or are they just the volunteers?

1)  At this point we haven't finalized prizes/awards at this time.
2)  There are no judges, each obstacle/challenge will get you so many points and the person with the most points wins.  There will be spotters to make sure certain obstacles are completed properly eg. weaving the poles that you actually weave through them.

Can I come just to watch?

Yes you can, there will be a $2 per person charge for entry

I was wondering if this was a friendly get together, or a competition. I would like more details on the event please.

This is designed to appeal to both as Saturday is practice/fun day and Sunday competition but all that means is that there well be someone in each class who will get the most points.  You can still ride on Sunday just for the fun and learning experience of it.

I wanted to know if there is an age limit

No there isn't in fact I have been asked if a parent could ride along side their child to help them around the course.  She would be riding a pony.  This would be alright as long as the parent doesn't go through the obstacles.   You will still only have the 15 minutes to do the event.  We want it a family event.

Hi I am interested in the rider challenge and I live just about 1 mins away from where its being held in berlin heights. I'm wondering if we need to stay the night there or if we can go home and come back the next day. Thanks

Thanks for the interest.  No you don’t have to stay the night and you may even be able to leave your horse as long as it is herd friendly you could put it in with ours.   You could also still enjoy the dinner and campfire Saturday night as well.

Hi! I was just wondering what a course might be like for novice. My daughter has ridden for 5 years but has only had this horse since May 2008 so I am not sure how much of a challenge she is up to yet. She did extremely well this show season but this is a whole different area.

It really won’t matter at what level your daughter is she will be able to pick obstacles that she easily can do and there are a lot of others that will be new to her and her horse that will be a great challenge for her to broaden her and her horse’s abilities.  Most of all it will be fun and she gets three shots at it, two practices on Saturday and competition on Sunday.

I would be very surprised if the first time anyone does the course they will instantly do all the obstacles, it is meant to be a learning experience.

Hello Tim, if you could please give me more details on the upcoming events for the horse challenge that would be great.  Are we allowed to camp there for the weekend while we are doing the challenge or is only the seasonals allowed?  How many people allowed to practice the challenge at a time?  More details would be appreciated.

Yes we have Camping, we only have 30 shared sites available and it is $60 for Friday, Saturday or dry camping for Saturday night only for $20.

On the Saturday the practice will still be run on the same bases as Sunday with one person being started at a time.  Then you will have 15 minutes to complete as many obstacles as you can.

We may have to stagger start riders like every 2 to 5 minutes depending on how many we have show up.  We will have spotters watching each rider to see how many events you complete and if you completed it properly.

At this point in time we don't have the course laid out or how many points you will get for each obstacle.  On the first practice day we will access both time and difficulty of each event based on an average of everyone participating that day to come to a fair point system for the course.  What one person will find easy another may find impossible so we can't base the course on just a few people.

I am sure over the first year we will adjust the points on some obstacles as we get to see more riders do them.
